How to use our solid toothpaste:
Wet your toothbrush with hot/warm water, then rub it over the solid toothpaste. You don't need much toothpaste for it to be effective, as it will foam up when it mixes with your saliva. Brush your teeth just as you would with your usual toothpaste, then rinse your mouth with water.
There are countless ways to store your toothpaste! For example, you could keep it on a soap dish, in your toothbrush holder, in a liqueur glass or simply slip it back into its box. Bacteria spread through water. This toothpaste is solid and doesn't contain any water, so you don't have to worry about hygiene!
A compostable stick
Once you've finished your solid toothpaste, add the stick to your compost, so there's zero waste. The cardboard box is also biodegradable, printed with vegetable inks and coated with a non-toxic finish, so you can compost it too!
Our products carry the PETA Cruelty-Free and Vegan label, and the Slow Cosmétique stamp!
*certified organic **naturally present in the essential oils
Our stearic acid is derived from olive oil and not from palm oil.
About the botanical ingredients
Cocos nucifera oil*, coconut fatty acid: coconut oil, which also nourishes gums.
Sodium cocoyl isethionate, sodium isethionate: surfactants with foaming and cleansing properties.
Stearic acid: usually extracted from palm oil, ours is extracted from olive oil; it gives the toothpaste its solid consistency.
Salvia officinalis leaf powder: sage leaf powder.
Citrus limon peel oil: lemon essential oil.
Limonene, citral: allergens that are present in the essential oil and must be indicated.
Aqua/Water: we use a few drops of water to soften the paste so we can pour it into the moulds; it then evaporates.
About the mineral ingredients
Calcium carbonate: calcium carbonate cleans and polishes the teeth. It's at the top of the ingredients list for our solid toothpaste, which means it's the ingredient used in the largest quantity!
This solid toothpaste contains lemon essential oil, so it is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or children under the age of three.
Frequently asked questions: solid toothpaste
How can I store my solid toothpaste between uses?
If your toothbrush holder has quite a narrow neck, you can slip your solid toothpaste into it so it's held upright. You could also keep it on a saucer or soap dish. It's antibacterial, so it can't get dirty! However, if you don't want it to gather any dust, you could keep it in a small jam jar or an old lip balm jar. Simply make a slit in the lid for the stick. Or you could use our Lamazuna jar. The lid is decorated with a perforated pattern and the stick can slip easily through one of the holes!
How should I transport my solid toothpaste when I go on holiday?
You can follow the storage tips above and keep your solid toothpaste in our Lamazuna jar, a small jam jar or an old lip balm jar, making a slit in the lid for the stick to go through. You could also wrap a face cloth around it – just like you can with the solid shampoos.
Can several members of the family use the same solid toothpaste?
The solid toothpaste is antibacterial, so there's no risk of it spreading germs from one person to another. But if you're not comfortable with the idea of sharing, you can have one toothpaste per person and personalize the sticks so it's easy to tell whose is whose! You could paint on some nail polish in different colours, write names on them with a marker pen, add a strip of decorative adhesive tape, etc. Just get inventive!
As the solid toothpaste contains essential oil, is it contraindicated for anyone taking a homeopathic remedy?
You can use this solid toothpaste while taking homeopathic medicines. Just make sure that you leave at least half an hour between brushing your teeth and taking your remedy, so the essential oil won't cancel out its beneficial effect.
Can I really compost the stick once I've finished the solid toothpaste?
Yes, you can! You could also use the sticks to mark your garden rows, for example!
Can I use my solid toothpaste when I go hiking?
As we mentioned earlier, it's made with 100% naturally derived ingredients. Whether they're botanical or mineral, they come from nature. So you can use your solid toothpaste – and your solid shampoo – in the mountains or in a river, and you won't create any pollution.
Can the solid toothpaste be used by children?
Children can use the solid toothpaste from the age of three – as long as you're sure they won't swallow it and can spit it out properly.
Can I use the solid toothpaste with an electric toothbrush?
The vibrations of an electric toothbrush can be a bit too strong for our solid toothpaste! We recommend that you wet the brush and rub it over the toothpaste to create a foam before switching it on.
