How to use it
Wet your deodorant with warm or cold tap water, then rub it on your underarms. You can also apply it directly to wet skin after showering. It leaves a fine layer of cream on the skin – and that's all you need for it to do its job!
One of the most important ingredients in our deodorant is palmarosa essential oil, whose role is to destroy bacteria! So, it doesn't stop you from sweating, but it makes your sweat odourless – which is much better for your body.
Our deodorant is 100% naturally derived and vegan, and handmade in France.
We were the second French brand to be awarded the PETA Cruelty-Free and Vegan label! We have also carried the Slow Cosmétique stamp since the first year of its existence.
About the botanical ingredients
- Cocos nucifera oil*: coconut oil, which helps to nourish the skin.
- Helianthus annuus seed cera*: this wax derived from the sunflower gives our deodorant its solid consistency and also helps to leave skin soft and supple.
- Cetearyl wheat straw glycosides (and) cetearyl alcohol: used to stabilize the formula.
- Acetic acid / acide acétique: a natural preservative.
- Cymbopogon martini oil*: palmarosa essential oil, which kills bacteria. It's this oil that makes our deodorant so effective!
- Geraniol*, linalool*, citral*, farnesol*, limonene*: components of palmarosa essential oil, which must be indicated on the label.
About the mineral ingredients:
- Sodium bicarbonate: regulates the pH of the deodorant.
- Kaolinite: a component of kaolin – a white clay used for its purifying and deep-cleansing properties.
Precaution: our solid deodorant contains palmarosa essential oil and sodium bicarbonate. These ingredients make our deodorant particularly effective, but we recommend you take care when using it if you are sensitive or allergic to either of them.
Palmarosa essential oil should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women, or by children under the age of three.
Frequently asked questions: Solid deodorant
How can I store my solid deodorant between uses?
You can simply place it on a saucer or soap dish on the side of your wash basin. If you want to make sure it won't gather any dust, you could keep it in a small jar (e.g. one that held jam or your face cream). Regardless of how you store it, you don't need to worry about it "going bad". It's antibacterial, so it can't get dirty!
How much solid deodorant should I use, and will it leave white marks on my clothes?
When you apply the deodorant to your underarms, it should be well moistened and glide over the skin, just like a bar of soap between wet hands. It leaves a fine, transparent film on the skin, which dries quickly, so there isn't any risk of it leaving white marks on your clothes. For maximum effectiveness, I recommend going over the underarms well, both lengthways and widthways. A fine layer that covers a large area will be more effective than a thick layer over a smaller area.
How should I transport my solid deodorant when I go to the gym etc., or travel?
You can keep it in a small jar (jam, cream, etc.) or wrap it in a face cloth.
What's the difference between an antiperspirant deodorant and your solid deodorant?
As its name indicates, an antiperspirant deodorant prevents sweat from escaping. Our deodorant, on the other hand, works to destroy the bacteria in sweat so that they can't produce an unpleasant odour. To be effective, antiperspirants use aluminium salts, which block skin pores. These aluminium salts are said to be dangerous, following numerous studies – both recent and from several years ago. For example, a study carried out in 2003 by KG McGrath concluded that breast cancer occurred eight years earlier in women who shaved their underarms and used an antiperspirant than those who didn't use one. You can read the study by clicking here. When women shave their underarms, the aluminium can enter the body more easily.
It was when I learned about all this that I decided to stop using antiperspirants. I tried using alum stone, then deodorants "with alum stone", but none of them were very good at masking odours. And that's how our Lamazuna solid deodorant was born – which is aluminium-free, of course!
