untreated beechwood tampico fibre / union fibre Size: 13.5 cm

fibres:

tampico:

Tampico is obtained from the leaves of the agave or century plant (Lechuguilla) which grows primarily in Mexico. The thick, fleshy leaves are cut and then beaten with sticks or put through special machines in order to extract the fibers. Once separated, the fibers are allowed to dry in the sun and then selected according to thickness and length. Thanks to its extraordinary characteristics in terms of hygroscopicity, biodegradability and resistance to heat and harsh chemical agents, tampico is used in many kinds of brushes for both domestic and industrial applications.

Union:

The so-called Union fiber is a blend Tampico and Palmyra fibers and is known and appreciated for it characteristics of versatility and great strength.

Palmyra:

Palmyra, also known as bassina, is obtained from the stems of dry sago palms (Borassus flabelliformis), which come from India and Sri Lanka. The colour of this fiber can vary from rust to brown and it displays a variable degree of rigidity, classified by means of different commercial denominations (medium stiff, prime stiff). This fiber is normally oiled in order to make in more workable in brush- and broom-making machines and is primarily used for brooms and floor scrubbers for exterior use.
